The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities stated on Wednesday evening. The athlete was caught in a vehicular crash in the Lagos area on Monday, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The boxer had been receiving medical attention while healing from his light wounds, his promoter confirmed on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was judged healthy enough to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The victims of the crash were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
